Charity

Hey All,

I had a chance to meet with Matt and family this week and we have begun the process of setting up a formal foundation. Right now we are just in the beginning research phase, gathering all the information that we are gonna need to do this thing and do it right. We promise to keep you updated.

In the meantime, please feel free to donate to the charity listed on the right. It's one that Matt has chosen to help so if you can find it in your budget to donate a little bit it would be much appreciated. Thanks Matt for bringing this awesome charity to our attention!

More updates to come...thanks for all you do.

Update

Just wanted to let you know that plans are in the works now to create a memorial/foundation in Liz's name. Also, more fundraising events are in the works. Nothing specific to report right now, but just wanted to let you all know we haven't stopped in our efforts to help Matt, Madeline, and other widows/widowers. I will update with more information as we have it. Thanks for all you do.

Thank you!

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone that walked in honor of Liz on Sunday! We had a great turn out at Lake Calhoun, it was so wonderful to meet so many of you! The pictures on flickr are amazing too!!! So thank you, it was a perfect day.

Just a heads up, the pay pal account will still be up on Matt's website for another week or so. If you haven't had a chance to donate feel free.

One more thing, I had the opportunity to meet a handsome little man named Vico on Sunday. His mom passed away in January, 6-hours after Vico was born. He and his dad, Bob, live about 45 minutes outside of the cities. We are hoping to help them out in the near future. I will keep you updated with any plans as they arise.

Thanks again for all of the support you showed this weekend!

LGLM5K

Hello All,

I'm sure the majority of you have seen the post over on Matt's Blog about the Liz Goodman Logelin Memorial 5K Walk/Run. But I wanted to post over here so that we cover all our bases. We (creeps/broads) along with Matt and Liz's family have decided to do a very informal (for the first year) 5K walk/run to honor Liz on the weekend after her birthday. Here are the details:

At 1:00 pm this Sunday the 21st we invite you to walk/run where ever you are. You are encouraged to wear pink-Liz's favorite color or one of Matt's awesome t-shirts (see link on the right). We are also asking that people take pictures and post them on a flickr site that has been set up (info on that here). In addition, a Paypal account will be set up (details to follow shortly) and you can make an optional $7 donation that will go to both Matt/Madeline and other young widows/widowers in need.

Finally, if you are a MN resident and would like to join the Creeps/Broads/Logelins/Goodmans (including Matt and Madeline), we will be at Lake Calhoun at 1:00 pm beginning in the area with the volleyball courts on the west side of the lake near West 36th Street.

If you have any questions please comment here and we will do our best to get back to you as quickly as possible.

Thanks and happy walk/running,
Rachel

Jackie and Grandma Broccoli

The next project has already begun and I am way behind....

We have begun a $ collection for Matt's friend Jackie who lost her husband due to a Pulmonary Embolism the same day as Liz passed away. The plan is to send checks to a wonderful lady named Maureen who will collect the money and will get an American Express check to send to Jackie to help pay for expenses. If you are interested in donating to Jackie please contact Maureen at mcasey_2000@yahoo.com

Our second collection is towards a plane ticket for Grandma Broccoli. That collection is being headed up by Becky our faithful collector for the last creeptificate. Her e-mail address for more information is rrk895@hotmail.com.

One final and important detail the contact e-mail for the blog has changed to creepystrangerfriends@gmail.com

Thanks in advance to all of you who donate. It is much appreciated.

Long Overdue Update!!!

First of all I want to apologize for being absent here...this summer has been far too busy and my mind far too scattered. But I am back...and still as committed as ever to helping Matt, Madeline, and anyone else who gets brought to mine/our attention.

Secondly, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to everyone that sent donations to the Awesome Auntie Deb fund. We raised $1000 which is incredible! After some discussion there was a little change in the plans of what exactly to do with the money. We ended up with a $500 Southwest Airline gift certificate for Deb and then $500 was given to Matt, GMa Candee, Gpa Tom G, and Deb as a combo gift for a special dinner out while they are in the Banff. Our dear creepy friend Becky made the delivery to the Goodman house last week and they were overwhelmed to say the least! Thank you all so much for your generosity!!!

Third, we continue to brainstorm ideas for future projects...I believe something may be in the works soon for Gma Brocolli as well as Matt's friend Jackie. I will continue to update as I know things. Keep the ideas coming!

I hope all of your summers are coming to a wonderful close...much love to all of you!

Long time no post!!!

Hello All!

Sorry it's been so long since I've posted! With family in town and random weekend trips life has gotten busy!

Here is an update! We are collecting money to buy Awesome Auntie Deb and Matt some gift certificates for Southwest Airlines so they can fly back and forth (or wherever they need to) without worrying about the cost. We have tried and tried to figure out how to donate frequent flier miles but there is no easy solution so this is the next best thing. Any $ that you send would be GREATLY appreciated!!! Becky, a fellow Matt follower, has volunteered to collect all of the funds and purchase the gift certificates. We want all money to be sent in by August 10th so we can send it to Matt by August 13th (his and Liz's anniversary). Please contact Becky at rrk895@hotmail.com and she will send you her address to send the checks. Thanks to all of you who are willing to donate, hopefully we can get them enough for a few free flights!!!

Thanks again,
Rachel

Awesome!

First of all, thank you to all of you who sent Father's day cards for Matt. We are getting together tomorrow and I will hand them all over :) I know how much Matt appreciates the handwritten notes and letters and so THANKS he is really going to enjoy it!

Another awesome piece of news! Marcy P. contacted me a few days ago, she owns a store called "Dream Dinners" it's kind of along the same lines of a "Let's Dish" type of place here in the MN. Anyway, she contacted a store out in Matt's area and they have agreed to donate 6-months worth of meals to Matt and Madeline!!!! Amazing! Thank you so much Marcy for all of your work on this project!

Thanks to Patrick K. over at the MN Twins, he hooked me up with a ridiculous amount of Twins merchandise for Matt and Madeline! Also, Matt is heading to a Twins game this week and there will be a welcome sign for him on the megatron from all of his stranger friends :) Thanks Patrick!

So here's the next thing. A few people have contacted me about finding a cleaning service to help out at Matt's home every so often. Do any of you wonderful people have any connections to cleaning/maid services. It seems to be easier to get things done if there is an inside connection, so if you know of anything please let me know! creepystrangerfriends@gmail.com

Once again, you all are amazing...I'm so thankful for all of you!

Father's Day Card collection

With Father's Day fast approaching let's honor Matt! Kate sent me an e-mail today saying that we should collect Father's Day cards for Matt and send them his way!!! Awesome. He will actually be in the MN on Father's Day with family and I think I will see him at some point while he is here, so if people want to send the cards to me I can hand deliver them to Matt!!!

E-mail me creepystrangerfriends@gmail.com and I will send you my address! We have to get on this quick seeing as how Father's day is only a week and a half away! Happy sending! And thanks Kate for the awesome idea!

Madeline's Book

Here is one of those concrete ideas that I promised you in my earlier post. I received the following e-mail from Carrie a few days ago and just love it!

I am making Madeline a book ( in my head I see it crafty almost like a scrapbook) of mom-isms that we all had and continue to have with a short story. So, like one lady wrote to me and said her grandmother (I said any woman in your life that has been influential) told her that if she swallowed her gum her stomach would stick together. Then she tells a short story of how she believed it surprisingly until she was 18!!! and then some aren't as funny but more serious. I thought if I start collecting now I will have a ton by the time Madeline can read and appreciate them.

Also I am collecting "Girly Stuff" for Madeline and am sorting them into age appropriate boxes that I plan to send to her (even hand deliver a few too) to her each year. So like a lady sent a video on how to do "up do's" for a school dance that I put in a high school pile. Another lady wrote a cute note about wearing shorts under dresses so when you hang upside down on the monkey bars at school people don't laugh cause they can see your panties. Basically Rachel I want to just collect stuff that we all learned and heard from our moms, aunties, grandmas - whoever about growing up a girl and pass them on to Madeline.

XO,Carrie
Yaggie77@aol.com

This is one of those awesome projects that I love and it's awesome that Carrie has already got a collection started. Please feel free to contribute to either/both of her projects and feel free to contact either of us with questions.

I was also contacted by another person who would like to make a book about Liz which includes memories of her from family and friends as well as the new community that now supports Matt and Madeline. The details for this are still in the works however so I will have to keep you updated on that front.

Thanks to those of you who have volunteered to help, I will be sure to let you know what things arise!!!

Once again I am blown away by this community of strangers and I feel honored to be a part of it! Blessings to all of you,
Rachel

mini update

Hey everyone,

Just a quick update...I hope to have some more concrete info to post later on tonight and tomorrow. I am still waiting to hear back from Matt on a few things and we all know how busy he is so it may take a little time.

In the meantime, ideas are still flowing in and I sooo appreciate it. To be honest it's a little overwhelming so at this point I am trying to break up the projects so more people can be involved. Let me know if you would be willing to help out. I will hopefully have some more details tonight or tomorrow. Sorry for a little bit of a pointless post I promise to have more later! Thanks so much,

Rachel

Happy Memorial Day weekend!

Nothing really new to update on, just wanted to let you know that I have received a ton of e-mails with ideas for things for Matt and Madeline! Awesome! I am in the process now of getting back to those people and trying to figure out how we can make some of these ideas come to life. You all are so creative! Keep it coming. I'm out of town for a few days now with no internet...so sorry for the delay in responses. Hope you all have a safe and wonderful Memorial Day!

Blessings,
Rachel

Happy Mother's Day!

Hi Everyone,

Hope you all are having a wonderful Mother's Day weekend! Just wanted to give a few updates, the formula from Abbott Labs arrived, so Madeline should be well fed for awhile. Formula checks are being sent to Alicia and then forwarded on to Matt! Things are going well.

I have been working on doing something fun for Matt while he is back here, so I contacted the Twins and they are willing to get Matt some sweet seats to a game and some Twins merchandise which will be awesome! Thanks to Patrick and Eric for their help!

I think that's it for now...I am continuing to think ahead so any ideas are always welcome! Thanks for all you are doing to help.

Another Update

Ok, so here is where we are at:

1. So far about $80 worth of Similac checks have been pledged to be sent to Alicia and then forwarded on to Matt and Madeline. Keep those checks coming, and if you aren't sure what I'm talking about check out the post below. Also, Abbott Labs donated 2 cases worth of Neosure (Madeline's formula) and it is on it's way to them.
2. We got turned down by Huggies and Pampers, but after e-mailing Matt it seems as though they are well stocked in that department as well as most other departments.
3. I am still trying to figure out all the frequent flyer stuff...if anyone knows anything about donating miles PLEASE contact me!
4. I have one other project that I am working on, but don't want to say anything about it just yet :)

Even though Matt and Madeline are stocked on stuff right now I don't want to stop helping. I am working on thinking 6 months and more down the road as to what may be useful for Matt later on. I don't want this to be one little thing that stops in another week or two. So, please continue to check back, I will update as often as I can. Hopefully we can keep supporting this wonderful family from afar...I know thats my goal.

Thanks again to all of you!

Rachel

Similac checks

This is an e-mail from Alicia about the formula checks, for anyone that is interested!

To anyone that is interested in contributing formula checks to Matt, please email me at aliciadieder@gmail.com and I will give you my mailing address and I can forward onto Matt. Here is how you get these checks. The formula companies, Similac, Enfamil, Goodstart, etc. will give family members of infants checks for formula. Grandparents and other family members can sign up also - limit one per household (not just parents). A lot of moms on message boards will trade their checks of the brands they are not using, so I would encourage you to sign up at multiple websites so you can trade for Similac checks if you frequent any message boards.
Similac website
Enfamil website
Nestle Good Start website

Update

Here is where we are at:

1. I have contacted Abbott Laboratories, the makers of Similac (Madeline's formula) they are willing to donate a few cases to Matt...still trying to get more. Also, if you receive any formula checks I will have information for you on how to forward them on so they can get to Matt.
2. We are in the process of contacting Pampers and Huggies to see if there are any donation potentials there.
3. I am looking into donating frequent flyer miles
4. I am also working on a few "tricks" that I have up my sleeve.

What else can we do?!?

Star Trib article

Here is the article that the Star Trib did on Matt, Liz and Madeline.

Let's get Started

Hey everyone! I started this blog for everyone that wants to help Matt and Madeline Logelin. We are just in the brainstorming phase, so the more ideas the better! Let's see if we can come up with a "Big Give" for them.

So far Alicia came up with the Formula idea. Madeline is currently taking Similac Neosure and I have contacted Abbott Laboratories (who makes Similac) to see if they would want to help out with our project here. We can also collect checks for Similac if people have them.

So let's get the juices flowing...what else can we do?
